Department Of Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) was established under Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in 1998 to serve three major functions: teaching, research and community service. The department was initially existed as a branch of Chemical Engineering Department under Yangon Technology University (YTU). The manpower resources in basic foundation of the department comprise chemical engineers, veterinary surgeons, agriculturists, microbiologists, chemists, zoologists and botanists. ON 16th August 2001, the department was promoted as Faculty of Yangon Technological University and steered by Department of Technical Promotion and Coordination (DTPC). The department was then transferred from Yangon Technological University to Mandalay Technological University (MTU) under Department of Advanced Science and Technology (DAST) in September 2006. Since 2015, the department of Biotechnology has being reorganized under the Department of Higher Education (DHE), the Ministry of Education (MOE).}
To deliver quality education and training in the various fields of biotechnology, research, management and application by imparting theoretical and practical knowledge to the students, To maintain collaborations with several institutes, academia, industry and other governmental agency, To develop human potential to its fullest extent so that intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted leaders can emerge in a range of professions.
To contribute to Myanmar through Excellence in Scientific and Technical Education and Research, To attain new heights in biotechnology research, to shape biotechnology into a premier precision tool of the future for the creation of wealth and ensuring social welfare.
